We have an exciting opportunity on our corporate team for a problem solver, a change agent who is committed to taking the Motus systems to the NEXT level. The Controls Engineer position will be responsible for providing controls for the automated equipment. PLC and HMI programming, debugging, network commissioning and equipment integration are the primary key performance objectives.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, controls, devices, and systems to improve overall productivity
  • Troubleshoot and work with Allen-Bradley PLC 500, RS Logix, Micro Logix, Compact Logix and Control Logix
  • Identify, research, and resolve deficiencies that contribute to excessive scrap and machine downtime
  • Direct implementation of process changes and installation of new equipment
  • Interact with manufacturing employees, maintenance employees and plant leadership to understand plant focus and barriers to equipment performance
  • Collaborates with quality, and operations to ensure that manufacturing and plant processes and equipment produce a product that meets all quality and engineering standards

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years in automation controls / electrical
  • PLC and HMI programming
  • Familiar with Ethernet/IP Industrial Protocol, Vision Sensors and Bar Code Scanning systems
  • Familiar with servos, servo controllers and encoders
  • Familiar with pneumatic controls
  • Effective problem solving, root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence others to drive change
  • Willingness to work overtime and off-shift as needed (<5%)
  • Willingness to travel for short term periods (<15%)
  • Ability to read machine drawings and control schematics
  • Ability to remotely support diagnostics and troubleshooting for other Motus sites

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with robots and robot controllers (Primarily Fanuc)
  • Experience working with a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system
  • Experience working with smart cameras (i.e. Keyence, Cognex, Banner)

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Automatic Control Systems or related field
Preferred
  • Bachelors or better in Electrical Engineering or related field
