Position Details: Cook at Surrey Place Per Diem position, Flexible hours Description:Prepares all necessary menu items in accordance with established standards, serves food attractively and at proper temperatures. Implements proper cleaning techniques to ensure optimal infection control. % Of Time Spent Principle Accountabilities:
1. Reads menus, reviews recipes, and discusses with dietetic service supervisor all necessary steps in meal preparation. 1%
2. Prepares all necessary menu items in accordance with established standards. 38% Determines quantity of all food needed in meal preparation Follows recipes Prepares substitute items to meet individual needs.
3. Serves meal using portions listed on the menu 16%
4. Cover, dates, and labels all leftovers, and stores properly. 2%
5.Cleans cook's area and equipment used in food preparation. 10%
6.Receives and checks all deliveries against invoices in the absence of Head Cook/Food Service Supervisor. Assists with stocking. 1%
7. Supervises dietary personnel in absence of Head Cook/FSS. 10%
8. Follows established security routine. 1%
9.Maintains open communication with co-workers to ensure that all foods are properly prepared and served. 5%
10.Implements proper food handling and cleaning techniques to ensure optimal infection control. 10%
11.Observes proper techniques of body mechanics in lifting and other physical labor. 2%
12.Observes proper techniques of food handling, i.e. receipt, storage, preparation and service, to ensure good cost control. 2%
13. Conducts oneself in a manner which contributes to an environment conductive to the provision of quality resident care. 2%
14. Performs other work duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Experience in quantity food preparation Knowledge of therapeu5tic diets and ability to prepare food for special diets. Verbal ability required to understand oral and written instructions Manual dexterity and coordination required. The assessment, care and treatment provided by the staff will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The staff is competent to care for patient age groups including the adult and geriatric patient.
