As a Marketing and Communications Writer, you’ll work directly with Subject Matter Experts, Technical and Analytics leaders, Marketing, Sales, & Client Services Leaders, and Senior Executives, to help bring the Gallagher Bassett’s global thought leadership, innovative products and services, and unique value proposition to market.
We’re looking for someone who is an outstanding writer, proficient at aligning voice and tone to current branding, and accustomed to working with executive-level subject matter experts. As a successful candidate, you’ll have mastered the art of writing in multiple styles for various channels, fit for both internal and external audiences. You’ll bring enthusiasm and creative ideas for communications, while supporting branding initiatives and recommending strategies to enhance the company's image with both employees and the market. Strong organizational and project management skills, coupled with attention to detail and the ability to multi task and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment are a must.
The successful candidate will have a combination of writing, storytelling, and strategizing skills in order to develop and manage marketing projects that resonate with our employees and external stakeholders, as well as possess the ability to use data-driven insights. Specifically, the role will build content that helps answer questions like: “Why GB?” “What matters most to our employees, prospects, and clients?” and “What is different or better about GB’s offerings, culture, approach?”
Specific Responsibilities:
- Collaborate across all levels of leadership and product management to create differentiating technical and non-technical communications content.
- Explain complex, technical topics in an easy to understand way
- Understand target personas and the employee’s journey in order to address various aspects of the journey through content
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communcations team and others to develop concepts and direction for internal and external facing collateral and communications
- Responsible for writing; award nominations, internal communication materials, sales materials, digital (web content, landing pages, etc), brochures,
- Provide editorial support to various content contributors within the organization
- Integrate key messaging and positioning throughout all thought leadership materials
- Interview stakeholders and research potential topics for new content
- Review and edit thought leadership deliverables for message accuracy and consistency
- Coordinate the approval process for project deliverables
- Ensure accurate and consistent use of editorial guidelines and other quality standards for all marketing communication materials
- Manage multiple projects and maintain workflow to meet often tight, changing deadlines
- Actively participate in marketing and communication campaign calls to understand how best to address various campaign needs through content to help ensure campaign success
- Become a trusted liason between Marketing and GB’s business stakeholders across functions to help turn subject matter expertise into articles and awards submissions that help tell the GB story and shape GB”s perception in the marketplace
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 3 years Copywriting experience.
- Knowledge of digital, non-digital and integrated media, with ability to edit content for the web and a willingness to learn how to help manage digital content.
- Excellent narrative and technical writing skills
- Creative concept development experience and a strong design aesthetic
- Experience in executing marketing and/or communications projects that helped increase brand visibility, both internally and externally.
- Experience researching market dynamics and client and employee needs, and using this knowledge to create compelling content that highlights product, service value, and GB’s culture
- Equally strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of management
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Analytical and creative thinker with an impeccable eye for detail and excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to accurately prioritize and productively manage multiple projects to meet deadlines
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work and interact smoothly and effectively across multiple marketing and communication channels and departments in a team-oriented environment
