Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing, Inc. is looking for a Corporate Affairs Manager in New Berlin, WI. Under the direction of the Vice President, the Manager of Corporate Affairs will work with HR, Admin, Purchasing, Shipping and Kaizen teams. Manage the strategic activities within those areas, meaning that the role must always have an eye on the changing environment government relations, projections, corporate policy, and company morale. In addition to the above areas, this position will manage the safety committee and be responsible for the company’s activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Human Resources: Guide and manage the HR area and it staff. Ensure that employees needs are met along with coordinating employee training sessions. Overseeing of the Payroll staff addressing concerns and making sure that we are compliant with the above activities.
  • Administration: Work with the Admin staff to ensure that company policies and procedures are being maintained. Create and draw up procedures when needed, updating existing company business rules.
  • Kaizen: Ensure the activities of the Kaizen staff are progressing and finishing activities that have been approved for follow through. Create costs/budgets need for Kaizen improvements of the company; monitor, report, and track the results of activities. Promote Small Group Activity to establish and continuously improve procedure and systematically develop Kaizen Group leader and team member for the activity.
  • Environment, Health, and Safety: Tak a systematic and informed approach to preventing accidents and injuries; oversee a range of hazards, including ergonomic hazards, falls from height, and machinery safety; protect workers, their health, the natural environment through compliance with legal requirements and regulatory standards; by the increase in productivity, profit, and morale that comes with a safe and healthy workforce. Understand industry and safety regulations, including OSHA and ISO; observe staff activities and the work environment, and make recommendations to management as appropriate; and create and maintain documentation as necessary.
  • Purchasing: Ensure purchase orders are entered accurately; monitor purchase orders sent to vendors and manufacturers, mainly Sumitomo Electric’s plant in Japan; follow up via email with the Japan facility; and edit purchase requests according to customer communication. Supervise stock control for office and shop supplies.
  • Import/Export: Being responsible for the company's import/export compliance; scheduling and implement training on an annual basis to ensure that staff is in compliance and up to date with the latest rules and procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain files and records of corporation, procedures, business rules and related letters or memos; and perform any other duties as needed or directed by management. Authorize retention of data and preparation of documents for use during governmental, ISO or customer inquiries; create and submit reports and other documentation to management as needed or requested.
  • Supervising: Directly supervise employees in the HR, Admin & Kaizen departments. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Company policies and procedures, safety guidelines, and general business documentation, forms, and instructions.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of Managers, Staff, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have experience in the cutting tools industry or similar manufacturing industry.
  • Must be able to use a computer and such applications as Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Electrical Engineer (Entry Level)

J-Power Systems Saudi Co., Ltd, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for an entry level full-time Electrical Engineer who will be working in our corporate office in Al Khobar. This person will be reporting into the Engineering Section Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of the Engineering Section Manager at the project level of electrical power cables.
  • Produces detailed design calculations and sketches for all electrical work associated with the project.
  • Develops conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach in solving engineering tasks at hand.
  • Checks calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, and design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.
  • Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.
  • Participates in planning, cost development, management and scheduling activities for assigned projects.
  • Consults with engineers from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project.
  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing is conform to functional specifications, recognized codes, standards, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
  • Freshly graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience.

Senior Accountant

Sumitomo Electric USA Holdings, Inc. is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to work in our New York City office. This individual will be responsible to handle general accounting procedures for our Accounting Department and will report directly to the Treasurer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

General Accounting duties include but not limit to followings:

  • Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents and records.
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transaction (i.e. disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable).
  • Resolve discrepancies if there are any and investigates questionable data.
  • Perform other general accounting duties as assigned.
  • Check and supervise Accounting associate tasks such as AP, AR and bank reconciliation etc.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to accurately maintain the company’s financial records and transactions.
  • Complete assigned daily ledger entries and other financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles so that the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Collect and compile simple financial information and assist senior accountants to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements for senior management.
  • Report financial statements and other information to our parent company every quarter in our internal system.
  • Carefully verify and approve the accuracy of expense reports and business trip reports submitted by employees in Expense Management System.
  • Improve Expense Management System based on previous experience by communicating with IT system department.
  • Handle tax filing and answer survey regularly.
  • Monitor and handle company’s budget operation.
  • Check daily cash management activities and prepare materials for interest rate calculation.
  • Maintain bank signers up to date and update them when requested by subsidiaries.
  • Update our online banking users, access setting, and other settings as a system administrator when requested by subsidiaries.
  • Communicate with our online banking provider efficiently when there are issues.
  • Implement new services in our online banking systems.
  • Assist the department to implement a new accounting system.
  • Provide auditors with necessary documents and answer their questions at the time of audit.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese are required.
  • Proficient in Excel and all other MS Office is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
  • Proficient in Citibank CitiDirect is preferred.
  • Excellent deadline management skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from subsidiaries, vendors, and the general public.
  • Experience working for a Japanese company is preferred.
  • Ability to raise issues proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to check and verify the accuracy of work.
