SUMMARY

The Cost Accountant leads activities of product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and inventory valuation.

Supports the Accounting department by obtaining financial data and maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Highly efficient in SAP with knowledge of creating reports, setting up variants, layouts and pulling accurate data from the system.
  • Highly efficient in Excel with knowledge of: SUMIFS, VLOOKUPS, linking files, creating reports and Pivot Tables. Comfortable with creating excel reports from scratch
  • Calculates standard costs, review standards and actual costs for inaccuracies
  • Reviews BOMs, Routing configurations, labor costs and updates excel files to mimic
  • Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
  • Strong Reconciliation skills, understanding of General Ledger accounting
  • Keeps and reviews all General Ledger accounts for accuracy, updates cost center report monthly
  • Assists with Month End closing operations, Prepare monthly Journal Entries
  • Supports AP and Purchasing Departments on PO reconciliation and investigations
  • Assist auditors with journal entry examination and Year End Closing
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts, investigate variances
  • Work with the sites materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory
  • Reviews Concur accounts, assists with reconciling Concur monthly and reviews American Express accounts
  • Provides reports on breakeven points by products, cost centers, and production departments
  • Provides reports on periodic variances and their causes, focusing on spending variances
  • Provides supports on semi-annual budget building
  • Compiles PowerPoint slides providing financial monthly reviews
  • Supports Tax Department with requests as needed
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Cost accountant generally works in an office environment but is expected to be highly familiar with all company aspects, therefore may regularly visits production operations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting and five years related experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have experience collaborating with a multi-department team. Also, it is beneficial to have experience manipulating large databases. Proficient in SAP required. Must have strong time management and analytical skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good with mathematical equations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing or orally.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong Excel and database skills, large data analysis. Strong background and expertise with Accounting Systems including major ERP solutions. Strong organizational skills.

POSITION TYPE/ EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., 40 Hours/week. Remote work may be available as a hybrid schedule.

The annual salary range for this position is $72,200-90,300

The salary offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.
