Position Summary:
- Supports Corporate Controller through the compilation and reporting of operational and financial data in a timely manner to facilitate the efficient operation of the facilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:
- Completes various production related reports, charts, and graphs.
- Analyzes, summarizes and reports daily, weekly, and monthly production data.
- Enters bill of lading documents into Company information systems and spreadsheets.
- Prepares detailed analysis of plant accounts and summarizes data; researches account activity tracing back to underlying documents or invoices.
- Maintains or assists in maintaining records of raw materials, finished goods, parts and supply inventories.
- Participates in month-end and year-end inventories and cycle counts throughout the month as determined necessary. Reconciles and reports variances. Recommends necessary adjustments.
- Runs various production related reports and queries from Company information systems for distribution to plant management and finance staff.
- Assists with month end closings.
- Enters journal entries in financial reporting system.
- Reports monthly roll-forward of receipts, consumption, and inventory balances of raw materials.
- Assists departmental managers of the Canton plant in researching account activity running through their respective cost centers.
- Conducts physical inventories of outside processors and consignment inventory.
- Reviews invoices of plant contractors to establish the propriety of time and expense charges and researches discrepancies.
- Cross trains with scrap inventory accountant and Financial Analyst to competently cover for this position may be needed periodically.
Qualifications:
Specific knowledge, training, or skills required to perform the duties of this position. Specific concepts, courses, training programs or required certifications:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and move comfortably around complex spreadsheets with large amounts of data and to understand the connectedness of data within and between various worksheets. Ability to understand and construct timesaving formulas including nested formulas. Ability to audit spreadsheets for errors and inconsistencies. Ability to create and manipulate pivot tables.
- Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, inventories, and materials.
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting / Finance / Economics / Computer Sciences.
- Basic understanding of general accounting including journal entries and account reconciliation.
- Basic understanding of financial statements.
- Interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to relate to all types of people; demonstrated trust and integrity. Ability to process confidential and accurate information.
- Intermediate level computer skills for use in data management and retrieval; word processing; email and internet.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to be work and perform duties in proximity to heavy manufacturing environment.
Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:
- Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.
- Office work environment generally with semi frequent movement into plant areas including: melt shop, cast roll, flex cast, inventory storage buildings, scrap yard, and other areas requiring an awareness of one’s surroundings and the potential safely hazards.
- Movement between sites at plant can require moderate walking distances (between 3-4 miles) on days in which inventories are taken.
Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:
- Demonstrated experience in industrial accounting.
