Summary
The CSM Surface Prep is responsible for the surface preparation of various non-metallic and metallic substrates pre and post paint. The ideal candidate will have previous finishing experience specifically working with a variety of products and materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Use multiple preparation techniques to prepare surfaces for proper adherence such as abrasive blasting and sanding.
- Stage product for finishing, prep all surfaces to be finished, and assist with the painting process.
- Understanding specifications of the project and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and following written and verbal instructions.
- Assist with the application of a variety of paints and coating to multiple types of substrate materials.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
- Ability to adopt to new processes and continuously work toward improving the current process.

Knowledge and Skill
- Required education generally equivalent to a High School Diploma
- Experience with finish surface prep including sanding and abrasive blasting
- Experience with various finishing processes including sanding and priming
- Knowledge of painting, power coating or fusion bonding a plus
- Organizational skills
- Ability to read and analyze Information
- Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
- Excellent time management
- Process improvement mindset
- Ability to lift heavy materials.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must frequently lift 30 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee will frequently stand or walk, occasionally talk and listen, and move from place to place. He/she will frequently use hands to handle or touch. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics for this position are in an industrial setting where all policies regarding safety have to be followed. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The phrases “occasionally”, “regularly”, and “frequently” correspond to the following definitions: “Occasionally” means up to 1/3 of working time, “regularly” means between 1/3 and 2/3 of working time, and “frequently” means 2/3 and more of working time.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
