GENERAL SUMMARY
Under minimum supervision, the custodial position performs essential custodial tasks involving housekeeping and grounds keeping. The position performs event set-up and take-down, advanced floor care, light building maintenance and other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Routine housekeeping tasks including (but not limited to) sweeps, scrubs and mops floors; strips, waxes, buffs and seals floors, vacuums and shampoos rugs, washes, dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork and shelves; empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans walls, fountains, windows, and restrooms; replenishes supplies; turns out lights and locks doors and windows; reports necessary repairs; cleans and maintains equipment and material used in week.- Grounds keeping
- Performs event set-ups and may perform variety of building maintenance tasks including moving furniture and equipment, replacing lights and air filters, assembling shelving, performing minor repairs and other similar duties.
- Keeps Inventory and Requisitions materials and required for the job
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma (or equivalent).- Valid Texas Driver's License
Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted or evaluated at the discretion of the City.- Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred: Minimum of one year custodial/janitorial experience
COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES
Knowledge of:
the methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial and minor building maintenance
Ability to:
Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs- Follow oral and written direction
- Complete required duties in a regular schedule
- Maintain good working relationships with others
- Must have the ability to climb up and down ladders, and perform work while balancing on a ladder
