Description of Duties:

The Cybersecurity Engineer II supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:


  • Be responsible for ensuring system software installs, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
  • Be a strong innovator in process improvement and system design.
  • Have excellent presentation, oral and written skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with senior customer and management and customers.
  • Effectively function as self-starter and identify risks, issues, and opportunities to the Cybersecurity Functional area lead.
  • Enable cybersecurity by maintaining operational security posture and ensure information systems security policies, standards and procedures are established and followed.
  • Work closely with a team of engineers, including additional system administrators, network engineers, system engineers, and cybersecurity engineers, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer.
  • Work with system engineers to identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on cyber requirements, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), Security Requirement Guide (SRG), JFHQ DoDIN Cyber Tasking Orders (CTO). Knowledge and familiarity with SCAP tools and vulnerability scanning tools (such as NMAP, Nessus (or Tenable ACAS suite).
  • Lead vulnerability management through weekly interaction with operations team, use innovative means to achieve positive outcomes.

This position will be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO


This position is expected to pay $108,300 - $118,300 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of general experience


  • Must have 2 years of directly related experience.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity
  • Must be familiar (administrative and configuration level experience) with Microsoft Domain Controllers including Active Directory and Group Policy Object management.
  • Must have experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, Ansible tools.
  • Must have experience with VMware infrastructure administration and management.
  • Must have experience with large scale patch of window and linux.
  • Must be familiar with VMware ESXi administration, installation, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Must have experience with Security Hardening & Vulnerability/Compliance, OS patching.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of performance monitoring, metrics, capacity planning, and management.
  • Must be familiar with supporting enterprise container based platforms.
  • Must be familiar with McAfee Enterprise Policy Orchestrator, HBSS or EndPoint Security.
  • Must be familiar with ticketing system (Remedy) and the demonstrated ability to use a methodology to drive cyber hygiene and reduce vulnerabilities across the enclave
  • Must have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, an 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (CCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)
  • Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
