Dedicated Emergency Service Team

Emergency Services Clinicians provide psychiatric evaluation, crisis intervention, stabilization, disposition and referral services in consultation with the ED physician, for persons in need of emergency psychiatric care appearing in our community hospital emergency departments. In addition, clinicians provide evaluations as appropriate at the county jail(s) and receiving phone calls from those presenting with psychiatric crisis. Responsibilities consist of rapid response, face-to-face assessment, diagnostic screening, safety planning and interventions responsive to client goals, needs and resources. Ability to work closely with ED health care team and referral sources is crucial to the provision of high-quality accessible services.

The Dedicated ES Team covers Emergency Services and ICSS 24 hrs./7 days a week and operates in shifts. They work a 32-to-36-hour work week and will receive 5 wellness days a year. The team covers agency wide Emergency Services, ICSS and incoming crisis calls within all 3 counties. The staff will be based throughout our 3 counties. They will perform duties in person and remotely.

Requirements

Mental Health Professional adult; Individual with specialized training or one year experience in treating or working with a person who has mental illness; and is a psychologist, physician, educator with a degree in education, social worker, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, audiologist, registered nurses, therapeutic recreation specialist, licensed or limited licensed professional counselor, licensed Physician’s Assistant; OR an individual with a human services degree performing in the role of a QMHP prior to January 1, 2008.

To Qualify for a Children’s Mental Health Professional; A Master’s Degree in a mental health related field from an accredited school with one year experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families. Candidates must meet both Child and Adult requirements. Must qualify as a QMHP.
