Position Summary:

In addition to managing our drafting team, as the Design Supervisor you will:

  • Provide creative dental practice designs that drive dentistry forward for Benco's Strategic Markets customer base consisting of dental sales organizations, regional groups, dental schools and community health centers.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Strategic Market field directors, equipment partners, Benco's designers, drafters, brand design specialists and customer stakeholders.
  • Provide acute attention to detail and a high level of equipment expertise to ensure equipment layouts are feasible, functional and aligned with manufacturer installation requirements.
  • Serve as primary Design contact for internal Strategic Markets team.
  • Guide design project process to balance Strategic Markets sales goals, customer deadlines, partner relationships and internal processes.
  • Work with regional Equipment Specialists as required to manage and provide design services to their clients, including dental and interiors; interpreting and applying building, ADA, NFPA, and ICC codes to all office planning and specifications; working with customer's RA to ensure efficient and accurate completion of all dental, carpentry, electrical, mechanical and interior specifications as necessary for dental office construction.

  • Advanced space planning and design skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and work with customer's architects and MEP consultants.
  • Advanced CAD, REVIT and MS office knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes (IBC and NFPA)
  • Construction knowledge and experience
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe CS
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, presentation and time management skills
  • Ability to manage, train, coach and motivate associates.

Do These Responsibilities Interest YOU?

  • Liaise with Strategic Markets Field Directors and Equipment Partners to clearly define project parameters, gather all necessary existing condition and program information and identify customer expectations and timeline. Set space constraint expectations as needed.
  • Create schematic plans that meets patient, staff and public zone requirements, seamlessly incorporates dental equipment functionality and ergonomics, and optimizes staff workflow and patient experience.
  • Interface with Strategic Markets customers virtually and via in-person customer experience trips to our CenterPoint Showroom to ensure results are aligned with expectations; attend customer stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Work independently as well as with the drafting team on dental construction documents that include equipment, electrical, plumbing and carpentry details necessary for successful layout and connection outcomes. Provide coaching, knowledge sharing and mentoring as required for successful completion of dental construction drawing sets.
  • Identify opportunities for Benco’s curated services in Strategic Markets projects and collaborate with Interior Design team members to integrate services into Strategic Markets planning efforts, customer expectations and deadlines.
  • Understand project management and construction processes in order appropriately align deliverables with the needs of customer stakeholders and field requirements.
  • Co-travels with and works closely/cooperatively with Strategic Market Field Directors and ESs to ensure new product development and customers are serviced properly.
  • Acts as overflow designer for non-strategic markets projects if needed.
  • Works with Director of Practice Design to effectively promote the value of design services to customers through development of promotional materials, etc., both independently and in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing department.
  • Effectively communicates/implements design team policies and protocols to direct reports to ensure understanding and adherence.
  • Supervises and evaluates the work performance of all direct reports.
  • Maintains and improves management skills through internal Benco training, attendance at seminars, etc.

Do YOU Meet These Requirements?

  • 7-9 years of experience in Commercial Architecture or Interior Design

  • 1-3 years of experience in Project Management

  • 4-6 years of experience in healthcare architecture/design preferred.
  • NCARB certification (or received within 4 months of hire) or NCIDQ certification.

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design/interior architecture
