Position Summary
Our New York office is searching for a Design Technology Specialist to support the implementation of BIM and related design technologies. The Design Technology Specialist will work directly with multiple project teams from project initiation to final delivery, ensuring the project is utilizing BIM to the fullest, collaborate with project and studio managers to monitor and manage BIM utilization, and support various design technology initiatives.
The Design Technology Specialist will be part of our collaborative digital design studio NEXT, leveraging technology to continuously improve processes, expand services, and create tools & products that solve problems at scale.
The role is hybrid in-person/remote.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work directly on projects to enhance BIM workflows and practices in all phases of projects
- Ensure project teams follow HLW BIM standards and practices
- Provide training and technical support to elevate the overall office and project teams' quality and capacity for utilizing BIM
- Evaluation and development of BIM processes, policies, protocols, and workflows
- Develop project specific design technology approaches aligned project needs and global standards and workflows
- Identify and assist in creating content to enhance our digital asset and detail libraries
- Promote, educate, and support Revit as the primary design application
- Expand global digital practice standards and align best practices between offices
- Research, develop and evaluate innovative technologies to support HLW’s design process and products
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in architecture, engineering or a related discipline, or Associates Degree with demonstrated equivalent additional work experience
- 3+ years’ experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in architectural design development, construction documentation and detailing on a wide variety of project types, and 2 years of experience in BIM management/Practice, including but not limited to Revit project deployment – professional and/or specific academic BIM application
- Expert Knowledge of Revit and BIM software including BIM360 Collaboration and Navisworks for coordination and clash detection
- General knowledge of integrated architectural and engineering practice
- Demonstrated expertise in digital tools such as Revit, Dynamo, Navisworks, Rhino 3D, Grasshopper, scripting, programming, and interoperability experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scripting and computer programming knowledge such as C#, Python and JavaScript
- An entrepreneurial spirit and drive to seek out and solve problems
- Ability to multi-task various projects efficiently and work well under deadlines
- Attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Design Visualization tools such as Enscape, TwinMotion, 3D Studio Max, Lumion, etc.
- Experience with RealTime 3D gaming engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Familiarity with immersive collaboration tools such as Unity Reflect, The Wild, BIM Tracker, Iris VR, etc.
- Familiarity with BIM Standards such as ISO19650

The expected salary range for this position is $80,000-$105,000. We will consider relevant experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors in determining compensation.
