Diagnostic Appointment Scheduler I - Physicians East PA, Arlington
We are looking for an exceptional Diagnostic Appointment Scheduler to join our family!
Physicians East, PA is a multi-specialty, multi-campus group based out of Greenville, NC offering a wide range of specialties. In addition to primary care the practice offers pulmonary and critical care medicine, rheumatology, dermatology, oncology, endocrinology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology, surgery, urology, and urgent care. Our 102 providers and over 600 employees provide services for thousands of patients in a 29-county region. Our specialists are on staff at ECU Health, a 900+ bed, level one trauma center and the primary teaching hospital for the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine (ECU-BSOM).

About the role
Supervision Received: Reports to Manager of Diagnostics
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Work requires sitting for long periods of time; some stooping, bending and stretching may be required. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type 60-wpm, telephone, copier, fax machine and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. Involves constant telephone contact with patients and other medical offices. Involves frequent communication with patients and other staff members. Work may be fast-paced and stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
Responsibilities: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

Schedule, coordinate, cancel and reschedule patient’s appointments. Relays necessary messages to staff.

Maintains and updates current information on diagnostic’s schedules.

Answer telephone, screen calls, takes messages, and provides information.

Schedules CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear, Mammography, and other diagnostic tests as requested.

Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing.

Provide testing preparation instructions to patients.

Determines the availability of work-in slots for STAT testing requests.

Maintain diagnostic appointment desktop.

Complete and send Request for Referral Appointment Authorizations to the Managed Care Representative and notify patient of referred appointment date and time.

Able to begin day at 7:30/8:00am and end day at 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

Adhere to department and company policies.

Always maintain confidentiality.

Attends meetings as required.
Candidate requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent; Two-year degree preferred; computer experience required; medical office experience preferred; familiarity with diagnostic orders/testing preferred. Must have strong software skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, etc. Demonstrated proficiency with software applications such as NextGen, Centricity and/or related.
