The hospital’s heart attack treatment times consistently beat the national average and the hospital offers two cardiac catheterization labs available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.

Responsibilities

Promotes meal assistance to all patients on a daily basis including meal selection and delivery. Prepares assembles and delivers patients snacks. Accurately serves food and beverages to patients in accordance with the patients diet prescription. Verbally communicates patient concerns with the clinical dietitian (i.e. education needs inadequate meal consumption special supplement requests etc.). Calculates modified diets. Manages patient floor stock items and tray assembly. Enters patient data and meal selections into computer and prints menus tray slips and tallies.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Two years of customer service experience required.
  • College nutrition course (i.e. basic nutrition introduction to Human Nutrition contemporary nutrition) within one year of hire required.
  • Serve Safe Certificate (within 60 days of hire) required.
  • Computer literate required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively required

Preferred:

  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience as a diet tech or nutrition assistant preferred
  • One (1) to two (2) years in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Nutrition or similar preferred
  • Diet Technician (DTR) preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of nutrition as related to modified diets preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Pay Range
$30.03 - $34.11 /hour
