Purpose of the Position

This position is responsible for the meal preparation, cooking, presentation and serving of meals. This position will manage all aspects from food preparation to cleaning of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Reviews menus and recipes prior to food preparation to ensure menu is followed.
  • Prepares and serves meals for all diets including texture modified and therapeutic diets according to the company menu in a timely manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of mechanically altered diets.
  • Prepares meals in accordance with current applicable local, state, and federal regulations, and inline with the company’s established policies and procedures, and, as directed by the Dietary Manager, to ensure that quality food service is always provided.
  • Assists in assuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed.
  • Prepares food in advance for the next day and other meals as directed.
  • Cooks a variety of food in large quantities as needed.
  • Prepare food items that are both visually appealing, palatable, nutritious and meet all food safety guidelines.
  • Follows standardized recipes adhering to both weights and measures and cooking method.
  • Understands and follows proper portioning guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean, sanitary and organized manner.
  • Practices proper food handling and storage procedures according to approved sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist in food preparation and service for holiday meals and special events.
  • Ability to oversee meal service as needed and address resident needs.
  • Assist in cleaning and opening/closing of kitchen in the AM & PM.
  • Ability to supervise frontline staff (prep cooks, and/or servers) as directed.
  • Ability to supervise residents in kitchen area (as needed)
  • Completes all training and on-going education timely as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
