At Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP), our teams are focused on developing and making plastic bottles and jars that create a unique experience and are better for the environment. Director, Financial Planning & Analysis

Manchester, MI/ HYBRID

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for leading the FP&A team for the Beverage Business Unit and is a key member of the Beverage team. Position highlights are as follows:

  • Partner with Beverage Business Unit management to drive profitable growth and value preservation
  • Provide financial leadership, expertise and guidance in areas of forecasting, budgeting, reporting, analysis and strategic planning
  • Deliver thought leadership and innovative solutions across the business; identify and implement opportunities for use of new financial systems and processes
  • Provide leadership in talent management and personnel development; provide functional leadership by fostering teamwork, providing coaching and developing team members
  • Lead FP&A team in supporting major initiatives (including footprint and acquisition opportunities)
  • Direct activities associated with maintaining a strong internal control environment and proper governance

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Key Business Unit Initiatives

  • Lead and support analysis of various business unit strategic projects
  • Direct financial efforts associated with potential acquisitions, footprint actions, major investments, etc.
  • Manage, analyze, and report on outperformance plans

Monthly Financial Reporting, Analysis and Forecasting

  • Lead efforts to effectively analyze and communicate monthly financial results to key stakeholders
  • Manage overall closing and reporting process for interpreting actual financial results and accurately projecting future financial statements
  • Manage preparation of business review presentations to ARP senior leadership
  • Proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities to management

Annual Operating and Strategic Plans

  • Manage preparation of annual Operating Plan and Strategic Plan financials
  • Coordinate timeline of all required inputs
  • Provide financial leadership and targets to Beverage team
  • Develop reporting / presentation materials
  • Drive continuous improvement of underlying models and processes

Financial Analysis

  • Oversee efforts to analyze current results and trends; partner with Beverage management to drive maximum operating performance; develop observations and recommendations for improvement opportunities; install proper rigor at all levels
  • Lead efforts to analyze cost performance; enhance and interpret key benchmarking data and develop/maintain analytical tools to drive improvements
  • Oversee development of segment / cost comparisons for existing locations and products (for plant “deep dives”, monthly reporting, etc.)
  • Provide leadership on segmentation methodology and processes
  • Drive improvements in data quality, accuracy and systems by collaborating with various functions in core systems
  • Manage financial continuous improvement, P+ and Outperformance programs

Internal Control Environment

  • North America internal control champion responsible for establishing, maintaining and monitoring internal controls for Beverage and Specialty Containers sites – closely coordinate with ARP Internal Controls team
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Regional, BG and Corporate reporting timelines, policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Identify and ensure successful implementation of best practices to address weaknesses in accounting practices, internal controls, policies and procedures

Skills Required / Key Success Factors:

  • Extensive financial management with broad background in financial reporting, operations finance and strategic financial planning
  • 8+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in a financial management role
  • BA in Business or Finance required; MBA and/or CPA preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and integrity
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and influence outcomes, at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to be a partner with the business and across functional lines
  • Strong systems skills / aptitude (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, ERP systems software, SAP, Business Objects, BW)
