Job Summary and Qualifications

The Infection Prevention Director manages the administration of the Infection Prevention policies, procedures and program. The Infection Prevention Director carries out responsibilities in some of the following functional areas: (1) Coordinates the Infection Prevention Program for TriStar, CMC and Centennial at Ashland City; (2) Provides oversight of Infection Prevention activities for the Infection Prevention coordinators; (3) Analyzes infection data for risks and outbreaks/clusters; (4) Provides Infection Prevention education; (5) Coordinates Infection Prevention related PI activities; (6) Provides consultative/advisory services to HCA and HPG.

What you will do in this role:


  • You will coordinate all aspects of the Infection Prevention Program for the facility.
  • Your role promotes oversight of Infection Prevention programs as related to patient safety initiatives.
  • Your role initiates and facilitates Infection Prevention programs as they relate to: Hospital-wide Infection, Prevention, Bloodborne pathogens standards, Emergency Preparedness, Tuberculosis, Regulatory agencies inclusive of JC, OSHA, State, CMS and DOT, and Licensure.
  • Your role analyzes Infection Prevention data for risk and outbreak/cluster conditions.
  • You will provide in-depth coordination and detail analysis for high risk populations and surgical procedures.
  • Your role disseminates Infection Prevention data and other pertinent information to medical staff committees.
  • You will coordinate prevention and containment efforts for Avian Influenza and other potential infectious pandemics, surge and bioterrorist events.
  • Your role maintains awareness of national, state and local Infection Prevention trends and incorporates into current Infection Prevention programs as indicated.
  • You will provide consultative/advisory services to HCA Corporate office, HCA Division Office and HPG.
  • You will implement and maintain Infection Prevention initiatives in a cost-effective manner.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
  • RN with certification in Infection Prevention preferred
  • RN with current Tennessee licensure
  • 1-3 years experience in medical/surgical clinical setting
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Infection Prevention
  • Technical skills: Improvement methodology skills, systems understanding, facilitation and teaching skills, computer, written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, organized and detailed.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
