JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Health Affairs, the Director of Human Resources directs and supervises human resources programs for a major division of Emory University, including all policies and procedures related to recruitment and talent management, compensation and incentive program management, employee relations, performance management, employee transfers, promotions, classifications, appointments, and separations.
  • Serves as primary liaison with University Human Resources, the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs, and the Faculty/Staff Assistance Program.
  • Manages the program for national recruitment of new leaders and employees, including serving as the executive recruiter.
  • Coordinates with University and Healthcare Human Resources Divisions to manage posting of positions and selection and hiring process.
  • Interprets policies and procedures and provides counsel to leadership and employees concerning their administration; consults supervisory and management staff on human resources issues.
  • Participates in the development and administration of the human resources budgets; manages job documentation, such as job descriptions, position questionnaires; consults with supervisors and managers regarding staffing needs.
  • Assesses training needs and plans and implements comprehensive programs for training and developing staff.
  • Develops in-house workshops, seminars, and training programs.
  • Coordinates divisional performance management process, ensuring regular and timely evaluation of staff.
  • Manages an HR staff reporting to Chief HR Officer.
  • The Director of Human Resources serves as a trusted HR leader who is an effective partner and internal consultant with leadership while acknowledging and addressing the goals and constraints of the complex organizations comprising the academic health center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field required. Seven (7) years of human resources experience encompassing multiple specialties, five (5) years of which are in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Certification as a Senior Human Resources Professional is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership required in human resources management project management, strategic planning.
  • Operational understanding of medical education and the academic setting, its diverse constituents, and complex healthcare organizational structures.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering exceptional quality and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
