Overview
The role of the Director of Operations (DO) is responsible for advising the Head of School and school board on the operational matters of the district and to work closely with the Director of Finance regarding any financial matters. The DO is to manage the following departments: Facilities, Security/Safety, Contracted Food and Transportation Services to ensure efficient and lawful functioning of Académie Lafayette.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The Director of Operations (DO) reports to the Head of School.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for and manages department leads for Facilities, Security/Safety, Contracted Food and Transportation Services.
- Serve as the first appeal for any matters rising above the department heads.
- Serve as lead executive for day-to-day operations of the campus for all non-academic activities.
- Develop and continuously maintain operations protocols that are communicated to all staff and provide appropriate training.
- Lead teams in a manner that supports the mission and goals of Académie Lafayette and its individual schools.
- Responsible for facility request processes and approvals.
- Researches and proposes policies, when needed, in areas relating to Facilities, Security/Safety, Contracted Food and Transportation Services.
- Reviews contractual services and ensures efficiencies are implemented to reduce costs for outsource services.
- Ensures food service applications are properly completed, direct certified applications are efficiently processed and all federal program requirements are met.
- Ensures campus safety protocols are in place, including security, required drills, and annual approval of Emergency Plan.
- Accounts for all applicable funds collected in operational programs, including but not limited to food services and facility rentals.
- Actively negotiates contractual terms that are competitive with surrounding districts and with other state and local vendors.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff. Solve problems in accordance with Académie Lafayette effectively.
- Implement a formal feedback system to solicit feedback from parents, students, and staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications
- Previous school administrator experience required.
- 10+ years professional experience
- 5+ years management experience
Desirable Experience/Education:
- Master’s Degree
- Experience in public school transportation, food service, maintenance, security, and school technology, including compliance and bid administration
- Principal/lead administrator experience
- Board presentation experience
