What You'll Do
- The Associate Director of School Operations (ADSO) serves as a subject matter expert for school operations and supports the School Business Operations Managers (BOMs) across a portfolio of several schools. The ADSO is responsible for coaching BOMs in all areas of school operations and will serve as an Interim BOM when coverage is needed at an individual school. The ADSO will report to the Director of School Operations on the School Success Team (regional team).
- Support a portfolio of BOMs to achieve individual performance and network goals in the areas of student recruitment and enrollment, chronic absenteeism, operations compliance, and day-to-day operations.
- Through weekly one-on-ones (O3s), support BOMs in all aspects of school operations, including ops team management, emergency preparedness, student health and safety, facilities, enrollment, school nutrition program, and finance.
- Coordinate with School Success Team and school staff to ensure that compliance requirements are met and regional initiatives are successfully implemented.
- Facilitate effective communication and feedback between schools and School Success Team
- Assist with the hiring of new BOMs and other operations staff
- Lead the onboarding of new BOMs and other operations staff
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of regional operations tools, i.e. Weekly Ops Bulletin, Priorities Playbook, Ops Calendar, Ops Website, KPI and Compliance Dashboards
- Manage and support the New School Startup process
- Assist schools in planning for and executing school relocations
- Assist schools in planning for shared campus operations
- Assist Regional Operations Team in providing high-quality training and professional development to school operations
- Provide other support as directed by your manager or as requested by our School Leaders
The Qualifications
- 3 years of experience managing school operations required
- 8 years of related work experience, preferably in a growing and dynamic multi-site organization
- Demonstrated passion for KIPP SoCal’s mission
- Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, and a roll-up-my-sleeves attitude
- Ability to coach and foster the professional development of others, including ability to design and facilitate training sessions
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adjust priorities and work autonomously
- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Track record as a strong communicator (written and oral) who can influence and motivate direct reports and peers
- Experience as a flexible thinker and strategic problem-solver who can unstick murky problems and drive towards outcomes
Physical Requirements
- The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:
- Prolonged periods of working at a computer and sitting at a desk.
- Prolonged periods of working on your feet at school sites (i.e. walkthroughs and observations)
- Travel to the regional office and various school locations in Los Angeles and San Diego

Benefits & Compensation
- KIPP SoCal Public Schools offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is $85,600 to $128,400 per year. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint of $107,000 depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budget allocated for this role.
