Job Description


Purpose of Position:

Under direct supervision of the Deputy COO or designee, functions as the Director of Operations. To Promote the Mission, Vision, and Patient Satisfaction of the Hospital and Services. The director of Operations will ensure the efficiency, and delivery of timely bed assignment, transport, transfers, transportation, and logistics of non-clinical issues are addressed.

Operations Center:

  • Administrative responsibilities for the Operations Center which is a 24/7 Center needed to address all operational-related issues such as bed assignment, transfers, and transportation including staffing, metric reporting, and Transport coverage for the entire hospital.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team including Chiefs of Service, MARs, and ADNs to address operational issues regarding bed assignment and transfers from designated facilities.
  • Work with Ambulnz Transportation to address transportation issues in the Operations Center.
  • EPIC Liaison with upgrades/communication with designated
  • areas/departments.
  • Tracking and trending/Pl Reports to evaluate and recommend changes to improve patient flow.
  • Administrative responsible for (53) Transporters ensuring 24/7 coverage with approximately 14,500 requests a month servicing Inpatient/ AER/PER/Radiology/OR/Outpatient MRI area
  • Provide Daily Productivity Reports regarding Operations Center activities
  • In-service incoming staff on Operations Center protocols/policies
  • Daily rounding to ensure timely bed assignment/availability in Inpatient Units.
  • Active member of the Stretcher Committee/Equipment Committee and all other Committees as assigned.
  • Liaison with Central Stores/Central Sterile to ensure request and delivery of supplies.
  • Manage/Supervise Patient Transport Supervisors (3) on all tours.
  • Admitting Liaison- manage bed assignment, and ensure timely bed assignment by collaborating with Admitting, MARs, Chiefs of Service and ADNs.

Minimum Qualifications


1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,

2. Six years of full-time, paid experience of progressively responsible level in hospital administration with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,

3. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,

4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2); or,

5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
