Summary of Job Duties:

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Exercise Science, Recreation or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
-
Minimum of five years of related experience in programming for fitness or health promotion
-
Minimum of five years of personnel supervision experience
-
Certified Health Coach or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
-
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified in Public Health (CPH) or other relevant professional designations or willingness to pursue
-
Certified Group Fitness Instructor
-
Certified Personal Trainer
-
Demonstrated competence in policy and procedure design
-
Success in the development and implementation of recreation programs to a culturally diverse population at a large four-year institution
-
Active involvement in collegiate health, campus recreation and/or higher education professional organizations
-
Expressed commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education
-
Demonstrated record of leading professional development for staff Demonstrated experience of supervision of professional staff with emphasis in higher education
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge and application of health promotion, behavior change, population-based theories and models, and experience using environmental management strategies
-
Knowledge and application of national trends and best practices in collegiate recreation fitness program management
-
Skills necessary to manage full-time and graduate assistant staff members
-
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including word, excel, outlook, teams
-
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
-
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies
-
Ability to articulate a foundational understanding of social justice and inclusion within the context of higher education
-
Ability to create environments that foster equitable participation of all groups while seeking to address and acknowledge issues of oppression, privilege, and power

Ability to monitor and forecast budgets

Ability to balance multiple assignments, deadlines, and tasks
