Salson Logistics is a division of Total Transportation Services (TTSI) transportation operation that provides logistics solutions from Port-to Shelf services for large retailers and consumer brands.

We are seeking a hghly qualified Transportation & Logistics Dispatch Manager to run our NJ Corporate location.

Summary:

Managing the dispatchers roles and responsibilities and responsible for all trucking operations in Newark NJ. Must understand NY/NJ Port operations, container tracking, chassis, per-diem /demurrage. Directs, manages and controls and coordinates all local drivers in Newark NJ. to insure the availability of vehicles, equipment and drivers when and where needed to totally satisfy customer requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the dispatch team
  • Coordinates with appropriate direct reporting officials, as applicable, the utilization of available physical and human resources to accomplish the project at hand.
  • Responsible for load planning all the drivers in Newark NJ.
  • Responsible for all reporting for drayage operations and line haul.
  • Quickly assess the entire situation when engaging in the problem solvingprocess.
  • Identifies the root cause of the problem(s), viable solutions and the superior solution that best solves the problem for the company.
  • Through a fully coordinated and communicated approach, obtains the required resources and implements the chosen alternative.
  • Insures complete training of all appropriate human resources. To be used inthe problem-solving process and newly formulated on-going practices, policies and procedures.
  • Directs, manages, controls and coordinates all local trucking operations to ensure the availability of vehicles, equipment and drivers when and where needed to totally satisfy customer requirements.
  • Insures accomplishment of quality maintenance services on all locally based vehicles and equipment. Facilitates maintenance and repairs on vehicles requiring such services when transiting to the Houston terminals
  • Ensure that department personnel adhere to all company policies concerning ethics, legal compliance, safety, customer service and environmental protection standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Education: Bachelors Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business or Project Management or equivalent management level experience in these disciplines

Skills/ Experience :

  • A minimum of 2 year(s) experience at the supervisory level in a progressive company orcompanies that emphasize effective management, problem solving, training and significant accomplishment at the field and corporate levels is required.
  • Effective problem solving, warehousing and support activities, technological applications to logistics and building effective reciprocal relationships
  • Must be proficient in reading and writing, grammar and mathematical skills
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent organizational and people skills and be able to coordinate and oversee numerous on-going functions and/or activities simultaneously
  • Must have a basic understanding of Class 8 Motor Vehicle Equipment. Incumbent must be totally proficient at managing an active terminal operations including all supporting maintenance functions.
  • A basic understanding of MIS applications and all major functional areas of the company is an absolute necessity
  • Experience with dispatch-tracking software is desirable
  • Experience with transportation scheduling, routing and safety regulations
  • Experience with customer service and personnel procedures related to managing a team of employees

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
