Compensation: $40.00+ DOE

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

CBC Mortgage Agency’s Due Diligence Underwriter is responsible for the secondary underwriting review of correspondent submitted 1st and 2nd mortgage loans and investor conditions post-close and the subsequent follow-up to clear the conditions for purchase. The review includes multi-state, Conventional, and FHA Correspondent loan packages for both purchases and refinances.

Essential Functions:

  • Review credit, income, assets, collateral documentation per investor guidelines and CBCMA overlays and determine whether or not an investor or third-party due diligence conditions are valid.
  • Provide responses and support to Purchase Clearing team on the validity of underwriting findings (3rd party due-diligence and investor findings)
  • Be able to run DU, LP and proprietary AUS software
  • Calculate income using traditional and non-traditional documentation to determine DTI ratios, and residual income figure when applicable
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external partners when trying to provide guidance on open conditions
  • Track status of 3rd party due-diligence reviews and follow up to ensure purchase of loans
Requirements:

Competencies:

  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of recent front-line residential mortgage underwriting experience, with FHA/VA experience preferred
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA product guidelines
  • Experience with Non-QM and alternative credit products preferred.
  • Must have strong risk-based decision making and analytical skills
  • Requires strong, concise, and effective communication skills to support internal and external customer service needs
  • Must be detail orientated, organized, and work efficiently to promote timely pipeline management and accurate results
  • Minimum two years Mortgage lending experience required
  • DE certification is a plus
  • SAR and LAPP certifications are a plus

Work Environment:

This position can be remote or CBCMA onsite location.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional evenings as job duties demand.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High School Degree/GED
  • Minimum 2 years of position-related experience.
  • DE Certification a plus
  • SAR and LAAP certifications a plus
  • Strong customer service skills.
