PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Perform a variety of activities relating to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Programs and Training primarily focused around Safety.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to the Environmental Health Safety (EHS) and Security Manager. Interfaces with all levels of management, front-line supervisors, and bargained employees. Interaction with outside consultants and vendors as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists manager in developing and assessing strategies for the plant safety program to achieve safety goals and targets.
- Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of safety initiatives and programs.
- Ensure continuously improvement of company Safety Management system.
- Work directly with EHS & Security Manager regarding injury and illness claims management.
- Maintain data and develop metrics to track overall safety performance and report out metrics to employees and upper management.
- Responsible for health and safety related communications across Lycoming.
- Serve on and/or lead Safety committee.
- Coordinate plant EH&S activities including, but not limited to, plant audits, training, and awareness and promotion initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, and Corporate.
- Identify all training programs required by regulations and ensure they are conducted in a timely manner.
- Work with supervisors to ensure employee adherence to safe behavior guidelines.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective measures and track follow-up to ensure completion.
- Reports EH&S statistical summaries and corporate compliance issues tracking program.
- Address environmental issues and/or Loss Control issues as directed.
- Lead and participate on the facility emergency response team. Complete training/drills and administer first aid, CPR and/or use an AED.
- Address environmental issues, monitor environmental waste management system and assist Environmental Coordinator.
- Work with Security Supervisor to track and resolve loss prevention and fire safety items.
Qualifications - External

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably in Industrial Health & Safety). Work experience in Health, Safety or Environmental field preferred.

Experience in various Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001, ANSI Z10, etc)

Knowledge of OSHA/Environmental regulations.

Computer literate; basic skills in MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Training and presentation skills.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse cross-section of disciplines.

Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred.

Teamwork approach; ability to resolve conflicts; strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills; ability and willingness to travel as necessary.
