Position: Maintenance – Electrical/PLC Tech

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Classification: Hourly

SUMMARY:

The Electrical/PLC Technician is responsible for the daily electrical support across the plant. The position requires good communication skills and teamwork with all departments. Candidates will be chosen based on electrical competence and previous experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Perform regularly scheduled checks of PLC’s and electrical systems to ensure proper functioning and system operations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and diagnose problems with limited supervision.
  • Maintain the operation of production equipment by working with operators and other staff to identify and correct potential issues that could create downtime.
  • Assisting other departments where needed as directed by management, Supervisors, and Dept Managers.
  • Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, and the Reliability Engineer on Maintenance issues re: schedule PM(s), training, project coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all electrical inventories, including placing orders for parts and/or equipment.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete log of PLC and electrical repair and maintenance work activities.
  • Liaise with co-workers and with staff in order to co-ordinate work activities within and between departments.
  • Consult with Maintenance Manager to resolve work/staff issues and/or complaints.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and compliance of corporate policies, practices and procedures regarding health, safety, and environmental. Abide by all plant rules/policies including safety and GMP regulations
  • Computer Skills including familiarity with: Electrical Software, Outlook, Excel, Word, SAP, and SharePoint
  • Calibration duties including:
  • Acquire and maintain calibration training
  • Calibrate flow meters, RTDs, thermocouples, pressure sensors, scales, etc.
  • Documenting calibration results
  • Assisting with outside resources performing calibration
  • Skills on the following electrical testing devices to connect, set-up, and perform testing to troubleshoot plant issues
  • Multimeters:AC,DC voltage and amperage, milliamp, millivolt, OHM’s , frequency and min/max readings
  • Oscilloscope: AC,DC voltage and amperage, milliamp, millivolt, OHM’s , frequency and min/max readings
  • Power Logger: AC connections
  • IR Camera: Take images and review them with the Fluke software
  • Calibration equipment: Calibration tester, dry blocks, etc.
  • Updating prints to reflect wiring changes
  • Entering work activity into THS SAP.
  • Participating in yearly plant shutdowns on the main electrical distribution systems
  • Re-builds of contactors and electrical systems where applicable.
  • Removal and installation of equipment
  • Maintain close working relationship with equipment operators and line team leaders
  • Troubleshoot emergency equipment failures
  • Working with the other maintenance techs to increase their electrical skills
  • Must be able to work in a team based environment with all departments
  • Perform other work assignments, as requested or required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or a GED equivalent qualification.
  • Electrician/PLC certification, license, degree, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of work experience as an Electrical / PLC Technician. Proven ability to develop sound understanding of the safe handling and use of electrical repair tools and equipment, as well as ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC/Electrical systems.
  • 24/7 availability may be required, and willingness to work any shift as necessary.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Must be able to physically life up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
