Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Construction Quality group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Electrical Quality Inspector! This team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Idaho Falls facility with every Friday off. After hours and weekend overtime work may be required, especially during peak construction season, to support the INL mission.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performance of electrical inspection and general compliance to all subcontract, specification, and drawing requirements.
- Provide electrical quality inspection support for INL to ensure compliance with DOE, Company, and customer specific requirements applicable to Quality Inspection.
- Perform independent quality assurance inspection functions in support of general construction/project management activities at the INL and at subcontractor facilities.
- Aid Quality Engineers during design reviews and inspection planning.
- Provide Inspector Certification activities in support of the INL Inspector Certification Program.
- Perform technical reviews to maintain company level inspection procedures are accurate and correct.
- Perform in process surveillances of complex wide program work to verify compliance with company quality program procedures.
- Verify and/or witness operations and perform inspections and surveillances as called out in plans, procedures or work control documents.
- Ensure documentations of such activities is complete and accurate and all requirements are met.
- Provide support in various administrative functions such as non-conformance reporting, tracking, trending, assessments, and records management.
- Maintain proficiency and required training and qualifications for related QAI functions and participate in professional development activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 3- High School and 2 years related experience.
- Level 4- High School and 6 years related experience.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Electrical Code knowledge and basic knowledge of electrical inspection techniques and processes are essential.
- Must be able to acquire a complete understanding and knowledge of quality management concepts and practices; be thoroughly familiar with quality assurance codes, standards, and regulations as they apply to various types of facility operations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
- obtain and maintain a Rad Worker II qualification.
- meet minimum requirements as outlined in INL’s Quality Inspector Progression Plan for assigned area.
Preferred Requirements:
- A good working knowledge of electrical testing equipment such as Continuity Testing Equipment, Insulation Resistance (Megger) Testing Equipment, Electrical Torquing Equipment, and Fiber Optic Testing Equipment
- Ability to certify as a commercial electrical inspector with the International Code Council within 1 year of date of hire.
- A current Journeyman Wireman License

- Salary Grade 170 ($55,656 - $89,112) / Salary Grade 180 ($62,640 - $100,224)
