Job Summary


This position exists to assist in the operation of a central automation monitoring system for a large group of state-owned buildings in the Twin City Metropolitan area, and other out state buildings. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and programming the instrumentation, metering, and DDC control systems at the Capitol Complex. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance of the building environmental, lighting, parking meter, access control, security devices, video, intercom equipment, and various LAN operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered with the MN Department of Labor and Industry as a Power Limited Technician (PLT)
  • Minimum 2 years field experience operating and maintaining commercial building automation and control systems or 2-year technical degree in Industrial Electronic Technology or Computer Technology.
  • Minimum 2 years field experience calibrating, adjusting, installing, and troubleshooting of utility meters, sensors, and other electronic measuring devices.
  • Valid MN Class D Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree in Industrial Electronic Technology or Computer Technology.
  • Experience calibrating, adjusting, installing, and troubleshooting of utility meters, sensors, and other electronic measuring devices.
  • Experience with Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) automation system capabilities sufficient to perform application programming activities (e.g., Quick Builder, Graphic Display Builder)
  • Database management systems administration (e.g., Microsoft Access, SQL, Excel, Word)
  • Principles and applications of HVAC, environmental, security and life-safety systems.
  • Control theory and direct digital control (DDC) systems.
  • Functional integration of electronic and mechanical environmental, fire management and security systems processes and needs with automated systems technology.
  • Computer aided/integrated facilities management information systems and technology sufficient to provide program coordination and oversight for unit specialist(s) and technical support in identifying and troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong analytical capabilities; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently, be proactive and accountable for own deliverables.

Physical Requirements

Successful candidate must pass pre-employment physical. Physical Demands: Work Performance Testing (WPT). Job involves exerting up to 21-35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 13-21 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 07-10 pounds of force constantly to move or lift objects.
