Elementary Classroom Teacher
Job description
Purpose: An SRCA Teacher is an instructional leader who helps each student grow to his or her full potential. Working in collaboration with other teachers, instructional leaders, and school administrators, the Teacher plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate and differentiated instructional program that meets the individual needs of all learners in the classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
● Design instruction around state standards and the Core Knowledge Sequence that is rigorous and aligned to school-wide and teacher-created learning outcomes
● Organize classroom systems and procedures and manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged
● Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
● Submit lesson plans every week
● Utilize data to accommodate, differentiate instruction, or modify curriculum to achieve student success
● Research and use a variety of methods to engage students in the classroom
● Develop assessments that measure student progress; continuously use both formative and summative assessment data to refine curriculum and instructional practices
● Evaluate student progress through the use of project based learning and formative assessments
● Assume responsibility for the progress of all students, including developing intervention plans for students who do not meet instructional goals and for those students who exceed instructional goals
● Develop plans for para-professionals who provide intervention or enrichment to small groups
● Provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress; find ways to involve parents/guardians in their child’s education
● Collaborate with the SRCA Professional Learning Community to develop curriculum and create strategic plans
● Effectively collect and track critical student data
● Maintain accurate attendance records in PowerSchool on a daily basis
● Update grades in PowerSchool on a weekly basis
● Demonstrate knowledge through actions of SRCA’s mission, vision, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and ethical code of behavior.
School Culture
● Support and reinforce school procedures, including the monitoring of student transitions and dismissal
● Implement and promote all health and safety procedures and policies of SRCA
● Enforce and model school-wide behavioral expectations
● Collaborate with colleagues to integrate the 6 Core Values for character development into the curriculum
● Design and deliver presentations to engage families in their child’s education
● Participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities, such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations
Skills and Characteristics
● Excellent communication skills in all formats including but not limited to written, spoken, in-person, and digitally.
● Demonstrate the ability to forge relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community
● Consistently demonstrate organizational and technology skills
● Demonstrate resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
● Self-directed with the ability to work both autonomously and in teams
● Must possess the emotional intelligence to work as a team player and manage the stresses of the job duties with domestic life
● Contributes to a positive school culture that supports students, focuses on academics, and ensures that the school achieves its mission
● Complete other duties as assigned by the Head of School that support instructional excellence at SRCA
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $37,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
