We are excited to announce a brand new opportunity for aspiring EMTs. Due to recent expansion of services, HealthPartners Medical Transportation (HPMT) has several exciting new positions available. The EMT Trainee plays a critical role providing transportation services on our medical transportation vehicles while also training to become a certified EMT. No experience is required. If not already enrolled in an EMT program, department sponsored training will be provided over the course of a a few months in this trainee position in order to become EMT certified. If already enrolled in a program, tuition reimbursement will be provided to help cover costs of training program upon completion.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, performs duties in the maintenance and setup of BLS ambulance and wheelchair van equipment. Operates department vehicles and provides non-emergent medical transportation services to patients per MN DOT Specialized Transportation Service (STS) authority. Assists in the delivery of Basic Life Support services under the direction of an EMT/Lead EMT in the hospital, on-scene, or in moving ambulances. Documents services provided to patients in the approved ePCR system. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Accepted and/or enrolled into an EMT Training program or enrollment in a department-sponsored EMT training course within 6 months of hire. Must remain enrolled as a student in an EMT training program and progress towards graduation as a certified EMT or awaiting MN EMSRB certification upon completion.
Experience: None required.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Valid drivers license
Must meet MN DOT STS Driver requirements:
- 18 Years of age or older
- 1 Year of driving experience
- Clear criminal background
- Pass DOT physical examination
- MN DOT STS Driver Training completed within 3 months of hire
Additional Information:
HPMT is open 365 days per year, including weekend and holidays. Shifts are variable, but are typically 10.5 hours in length, between the hours of 6:00AM and 12:00AM. While in EMT Training, hours will be split between operations and training.
