Job Description
Under general supervision oversees responsibilities for the Gastroenterology (GI) Endoscopy Technicians. Providing direct operational support this position serves as a liaison between GI Endoscopy staff members and vendors to assist in supply management in-servicing of staff and coordinates with perioperative leadership to promote adherence to established policies and procedures. Serving as support for endoscopic practitioners, endoscopic residents and the anesthesia care team by ensuring that the GI Endoscopy team is preparing and setting up appropriate equipment and supplies for each procedural case in the Endoscopic suites.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. BLS certification is required.
Five years of clinical healthcare experience as a Gastroenterology Tech required.
Member of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), preferred.
Successful completion of an advanced technical endoscopic skills seminar course preferred.
Completion of a recognized training program, such as courses provided through UMMS, community colleges, United States Armed Forces with the attainment of certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Corpsman or equivalent. Certification in nursing assistance (CNA, PCT, PCA, or STNA), required.
Degree/certification related to patient care technology with a gastroenterology specialty or general health care (Respiratory therapy assistant, Physical therapy assistant, EMT, etc.) preferred.
