Purpose of the position
- Support the delivery and maintenance of high-performance, secure, and reliable Communications Services (WAN, LAN, WiFi, Telephony, Remote Access, Firewalls, Security Services) in accordance with Messer North America (Canada, Puerto Rico and US) standards to support efficient and secure business operations.
- Provide technical leadership and design for changes to networking and communication services
- Ensure Messer North America communications standards and best practices are met.
- Provide support documentation and training to 1st level helpdesk and regional support teams on all Communication Services areas to drive high quality support capabilities throughout the region.
- Provide project support as required where communications services are a required deliverable.
- Provide regular service level monitoring for communications services and trouble ticket resolution with appropriate actions to continuously improve services and manage business growth/demand.
- Provide operating expense management within the network and communications area for services
- Support the moves/adds/changes within the network and communications area for Messer North America.
- Support colleagues with conference room audio visual meeting setup and execution
Principal Responsibilities:
- This position is required to work normal business hours and must be available for after-hours work/support in case of critical issues/outages, updates, project requirements, etc.
- Provide Network and Communications support to the Messer North America Business (primary) and Messer South America (secondary for Brazil, Chile, Columbia). Ensure trouble tickets and service requests are handled according to resolution SLAs. Network and Communications services include: LAN, WAN, VPN, WiFi, Remote Access (VPN), Video, Firewall, Security Services and Telephony.
- Ensure WAN/LAN Services are accurately documented within SolarWinds and ServiceNow CMDB.
- Work with 1st level Helpdesk and regional IS support teams to provide training and knowledge for efficient network and communications support to the business.
- Monitor WAN/LAN services to proactively identify service issues, optimal system software and prevent or reduce business impact. Develop and implement network improvement plans based on monitoring results, service history, and business feedback.
- Responsible for new services, capacity planning and hardware lifecycle management for communications services. Ensure WAN circuits are optimized and sized according to business requirements. Ensure network components are supportable and plans are maintained for end of life replacements. Raise ServiceNow Incidents for production issues and Technical Requests for enhancement activities and ServiceNow Change requests for all network and communications technical changes.
- Partner with other Messer Americas team members to ensure knowledge is shared and priorities are understood. Leverage relationships to optimize the support of the communications area.
- Responsible for communications vendor invoicing review and processing to ensure invoices are accurate and processed monthly and any budget impacts are identified, and vendor disputes are registered if required.
- Responsible for security compliance with respect to Communications Services delivered to Messer North America.
- Provision, manage, and monitor Wireless network services within Messer North America facilities to meet business requirements.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in Networking/Telecommunications - preferably in a Global Corporate environment with multi-site/multi-countries.
- Minimum of 2 years experience leading and/or managing Network/Telecommunications projects and initiatives with a proven track record
