This position is located at Tru Vue in McCook, IL - a Business Segment of Apogee Enterprises.
Purpose and Scope:
Primary responsibility is to manage the engineering team, oversee the maintenance team in cooperation with the Maintenance Supervisor. Manage all engineering projects in correlation with the engineering team. Ancillary functions are to coordinate all the building and ground preservation, ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations, standards, and requirements. Co-ordinate the maintenance of the facility and all related systems. Implement and continuously improve equipment maintenance utilizing Continuous Improvement, Lean Excellence, TPM, maintenance management software, and other systems. Must be able to provide input after hours & weekends and work off-shifts as needed.
Expected Outcomes/Job Functions:
- Lead the engineering team to support improvements to operations.
- Lead plan, organize and direct the controls, drafting, and process engineering team.
- Oversee the maintenance function and Maintenance Supervisor to ensure an efficient maintenance team that serve daily production KPI requirement and metrics.
- Lead and influence engineers and mechanics with varied techniques. Provide frequent performance feedback and assist with career development plans for team members.
- Lead the drive, initiative, to support continuous improvement and elimination of waste and variation in processes using established improvement processes.
- Lead all direct reports in Tru Vue’s overall vision, mission, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead effective schedule execution for maintenance across a three-shift, 24/4 operation.
- Lead and participate in all liaison program attribute.
- Lead and drive improvement to SOP audit program through review and revision.
- Coordinate project prioritization of projects and tasks of the engineering team using proven methods to achieve business goals.
- Coordinate with operation support teams to address production issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Coordinate with team to schedule preventative maintenance and plant maintenance activities such as equipment repairs or installations of new machinery.
- Coordinate, monitor and maintain facility and systems. Boiler, HVAC, compressed air, fire protection, general plumbing.
- Coordinate Permit requirements and filing for all required building or operating permits to assure compliance – i.e., storm water, hazardous materials, building, etc.
- Coordinate annual inspection of cranes and scale certification by outside service. Maintain necessary documentation.
- Coordinate maintain and improve physical plant appearance and safety, through management of janitorial, lawn care and snow removal contractors.
- Participate and support cross functional programs including safety and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience: (minimum requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proven direct leadership experience. Minimum of (3) three years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team building skills.
- ABB Robot knowledge is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in mechanical and electrical trouble shooting and repair.
- Knowledge of internal and external regulations, standards, and requirements and maintenance of facility related systems.
- Specific knowledge of Lean Excellence and/or Production, Lean Sigma, and TPM systems preferred.

This job is primarily performed in an office environment. The noise level in the office is moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently interacts with individuals on the plant floor, near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.
