Overview:

Systems Engineering Supervisor position within D322, Quality Assurance Engineering (QAE) and SEP Certification. The person selected for this position will be responsible for problem resolution support for large scale material issues and unplanned events, cross-shipyard non-destructive testing issues and cross-company construction challenges. This person will be in charge of personnel that support ship certification audits, NAVSEA Functional audits, the ISO 9001:2015 audit and IPDE Mock Audits, as well as ship certifications.

Responsible for a group of analysts and engineers:
  • Actively coaches employees on leadership, communication, and project management
  • Provide ship certification support for problem resolution, NAVSEA and SSGR audit card support, and SSGR Corrective Action Request (CARs)
  • Managing multiple, often conflicting, priorities across multiple programs to ensure meeting production objectives are met for New Construction in Groton and Quonset Point as well as overhaul and repair goals
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of Quality Assurance Subject Matter Experts for COLUMBIA and VIRGINIA Class new construction as well as overhaul and repair to VIRGINIA (VA) and 688 Class submarines
  • Support Quality efforts within the department, e.g. Total Quality Culture Roadmap Quality Improvement Groups, large-scale problem resolution, Operations Working Groups, etc.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Working level shipyard/deck plate knowledge and understanding of Electric Boat standard practices and procedures.

Preferred:

  • Masters in Engineering or MBA
  • Experience with more than one Engineering discipline and/or Operations Trade
Skills:
Position requires a self-motivated individual with strong problem solving skills and experience with root cause analysis. Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills are required. Detailed knowledge in the oversight of SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC and FBW SCS technical requirements is required. Understanding of NDT and Welding requirements strongly desired.
