Job Description

Engineering Technician Support Services for Public Works Department-NAVFAC Pacific, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Shipyard CIA area, Hawaii.

Desired Job Experience

Five (5) years of recent experience as a engineering technician or tradesperson and shall have a basic understating of engineering, architecture or construction trades.

Current certification in concrete inspection, structural steel inspection, plumbing inspection, electrical inspection, HVAC inspection and / or other trade related inspection certifications are desirable but not required.

Have demonstrated ability and experience to inspect materials, workmanship and construction and installation of various systems. Possess up-to-date knowledge of construction practices and techniques, e.g., proper applications of construction materials and methods of installation.

Have demonstrated knowledge of the latest U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' safety publications (including but not limited to EM385-1-1, OSHA safety requirements) as well as all other applicable national health and safety regulations, codes and standards.

Have demonstrated knowledge of Federal building projects design codes (UFGS) and Construction techniques.

Projects assigned will vary in type, complexity, and magnitude including structures and related work such as office and shop buildings, airfield expansions, utility installation, wharf repairs, industrial facilities, etc. Projects may be in the $5M to $400M+ each range.

Five (5) years of recent experience as a construction inspector or tradesperson

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Current certification of successful completion of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)/Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Construction Quality Management for Contractors course. This course may be completed within 45 calendar days of task order award. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

Knowledge of the three-phases of control and Construction Quality Management process is required.

Sound understanding of construction concepts, principles and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering projects and the design, layout, and supervision of construction operation.

Thorough knowledge of construction practices and methods and construction management skills.

Provide satisfactory proof of U.S. citizenship. (U.S. or naturalized).

Have demonstrated experience in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc), Primavera, CostWorks, and Success Estimator, etc.

Have the ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS may also be necessary.

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The CMCS will perform independent support services to satisfy the operational objectives of the NAVFAC Officer in Charge of Construction (OICC), Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD) Director, or the Resident Officers in Charge of Construction (ROICC).
