Our Environmental Protection Technical Services team is seeking a dynamic Environmental Scientist with a desire to work hard and take on the role of a Clean Air Act (CAA) Subject Matter Expert (SME) and be a contributing member of a great team.
A day in the life of an Environmental Scientist involves:
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsibilities for assigned programs, specifically CAA, 40 CFR 52, 60, 61, 63, and 82. Also, WAC 246-247, WAC 173-400, 401, 460, and 480.
- Provide support to project management and staff to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, contract requirements and company policies.
- Routinely interface with DOE and regulatory stakeholders on environmental issues.
- Identify environmental requirements and implementing mechanisms.
- Monitor changing regulatory requirements and conduct analysis of regulatory requirements to influence the development and implementation of environmental policy, procedures and standards.
- Remain current in assigned programs through training and technical reading.
- Provide interface and support to line management to ensure contract and regulatory requirements are implemented and DOE objectives and expectations are achieved.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply techniques, procedures, and criteria to solve a variety of complex problems.
- Prepare and/or review environmental documentation, permit applications, modifications and other regulatory documents.
- Coordinate site-wide regulatory reports.
- Provide interpretation of compliance and consult with environmental counsel.
- Make technical decisions and assume responsibility for accuracy and adequacy of final conclusions and solutions.
- Routinely interface with all levels of management and staff regarding regulatory requirement identification, analysis, interpretation, and implementation to develop innovative and compliant solutions. Interfaces require good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Basic Qualifications
* Senior Level Grade 20: BA/BS degree in Engineering or scientific discipline, plus 10 years of relevant experience.
- Principal Level Grade 21: BA/BS degree in Engineering or scientific discipline, plus 12 years of relevant experience.
- US Citizen
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
* Must be experienced with and capable of developing innovative and compliant solutions to complex environmental issues.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of and familiarity with associated environmental statutes, regulations and interpretive documentation associated with assigned programs.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
- Senior Level Grade 20: $122,813 - $154,838
- Principal Level Grade 21: $135,188 - $170,463
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
