Position Summary:
This position is responsible for facility, maintenance, building and grounds upkeep, equipment reliability, equipment uptime, and deployment of reliable maintenance practices and systems. Also responsible for developing and managing all strategic and tactical plant-wide maintenance and facilities efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the integration of the maintenance and facilities functions into the general business plan. Determine requirements and ensure that equipment, buildings, grounds, and assets are operating in a cost effective and safe manner
- Provide technical support to governmental groups such as OSHA, EPA, county, and state government offices, concerning facility activity.
- Collect and analyze data to make fact-based decisions regarding equipment maintenance, replacement, parts inventory, and PM scheduling.
- Develop, implement, and adhere to the budget and financial targets
- Work with OEM’s and secondary suppliers on replacement parts
- Keep equipment running at optimum performance, through utilizing preventative maintenance procedures, planning, scheduling, and reducing production downtime.
- Participate in business teams to ensure plant profitability and equipment utilization.
- Support wastewater treatment in accordance with all regulatory requirements to provide correct treatment of discharge water within permit guidelines.
- Provide oversight to the location’s on-site café.
- Lead space management efforts including tracking space assignments, utilization, and MAC (move, add, change) in support of location planning.
- Manage individual(s) including but not limited to hiring, training, assigning work, managing & evaluating performance, preparing professional development plans, and making pay recommendations. Ensure the productivity and actions of the group meet/exceed the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Ensure a safe, effective, and well-maintained work environment for employees and visitors
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises a team of maintenance and facilities personnel.
Minimum Qualifications of Position:
- 5-8 years related experience in facilities and maintenance management.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering or equivalent experience
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred, demonstrated by successful completion of a major improvement project
- Excellent people management, analytical and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, work order Management Systems, and MS Office
- Knowledge of building process and construction principles
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing with heavy emphasis on Total Productive Maintenance as well as 5S
- Establish and sustain a World-class maintenance department within the Twin Cities
Knowledge and Skills:
- Balance of maintenance skills, mechanical skills plus electrical maintenance such as PLD’s.
- Green belt or lean expert a plus
