Job description
The Facility Specialist role will report to the Safety, Health, and Environmental and Facility Manager, and execute the day-to-day requirements of operating a research facility. As such, this position will be expected to work onsite each day, supporting research operations and ensuring a safe and effective working environment for lab personnel.
Role and Responsibilities
The Facility Specialist will be expected to oversee the following tasks,
* Coordinate day to day operations of the laboratory facility, including investigating employee complaints, receiving and submitting work orders, managing through completion, and ensuring facility is operating as expected
* Operate lighting, hvac, and building and environmental management systems, routing significant issues to leadership and liaising with Landlord staff as needed
* Escort and support any contractors required to work on site, for both internal and Landlord needs, ensuring work is completed safely and with minimal disruption
* Work closely with a wide range of teams, including Security, Central Services and Logistics, IT, lab teams, and more, to support any facility requirements they may need to operate successfully
* Provide general technical and mechanical support as needed, while performing and recording inspections of infrastructure and equipment
* Maintain a safe work environment, supporting Safety, Health, and Environmental programs as needed, including participating as a member of the Spill Response Team
* Be a central point of contact for all employees, collecting and collating any requests, complaints, or issues and ensuring information is passed on to the relevant parties
Desired Qualifications
The Facility Specialist will ideally have the following skills and experience,
* 4 - 6 years of experience supporting facility operations, ideally in a biotechnology, medical, or manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of facility and utility systems such as: emergency generators, fire and life systems, and hvac, electrical, and plumbing systems, experience with laboratory equipment is a plus
* Exceptional organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, excited to work in a fast pace, startup environment
* The ability to crouch, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
