Role description:
Arcadis is currently seeking an Industrial Hygiene Specialist to perform asbestos-related field work, including inspections and abatement monitoring/oversight and air sampling. Additional tasks also include indoor air quality (IAQ)/mold investigations and remediation oversight as well as lead paint inspections and abatement oversight. This position will be based out of the Arcadis Houston, TX or Dallas, TX office. Candidates must be willing and able to travel, and work nights and weekends depending on the project work needs. Travel will often be within Texas but may also be to surrounding States or elsewhere in the U.S. as needs arise.
Role accountabilities:

  • Perform oversight, documentation, and air monitoring for asbestos, mold, and lead, remediation activities at an industrial oil and gas facility
  • Work typically occurs during normal business hours, but will also include nights, weekends, and holidays as required by project schedules
  • Routinely interact/communicate with Arcadis task managers, project managers, and leaders; abatement contractors; consultants; and client personnel
  • Perform inspections/surveys for asbestos, mold (water intrusion), lead-paint, and other hazardous building materials

Additional information:

  • Must have knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, etc.
  • Work hours may include nights and weekends, or extended shifts beyond 8 hours
  • Preferred - Ability to travel for longer durations, up to 2 months, as project needs arise
  • Work may include performing the same base duties at other types of facilities including industrial, chemical, oil/gas, commercial, public, schools, etc. at other locations.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • AHERA accreditation training and Texas state licensing as Asbestos Inspector
  • Texas state licensing as Mold Assessment Consultant
  • 2 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in physical sciences or industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields preferred
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, building construction
