JOB SUMMARY:
This position will work with project leadership and coordinate with other materials management groups to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained and inventory is organized for field crews to pick up by work order. This position will work closely with materials management and field staff to ensure material is properly checked out and returned for accurate material usage reporting. This position may also work with stakeholders to locate and secure pricing of material that may present challenges to construction completion.
This is an hourly position and will work out of Brink's yard in Burlington.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Material Management
- Perform Material Takeoff for project utilizing construction units provided as part of engineering package.
- Review material needs with Project Manager and Construction Manager to ensure forecasted needs are understood and secured in advance of project starts.
- Work with Duke Energy inventory group and their subcontractor to ensure proper controls, safety measures and material needs are met.
- Package material by project in a safe, efficient manner to expedite crew pick-up.
- Contact suppliers for pricing
- With assistance from Project Admins:
- Issue Purchase Orders to Vendors.
- Generation of material receiving report sheet and distribute to field.
- Enter counts into material control spreadsheet.
- Send weekly material report to Sr. PM. (Count to Date, Required, Outstanding/overage)
- Review project schedules to identify lead times and procurement needs to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Review Change Orders written by Project Administrators and Project Managers regarding material to ensure accuracy of financial information, accuracy of material needs and controls.
- Maintain storage and inventory of excess materials at the Brink office location.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This job operates in a professional office and yard environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This position also requires extensive time in material yards in a variety of weather utilizing company provided PPE.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – (THE EMPLOYEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS WITH OR WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMODATIONS):
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain, climb ladders and/or stairs, ability to perform first-aid and CPR and lift heavy objects occasionally.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders, enter/exit a variety of construction equipment.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in Large Scale Distribution Projects preferred, willing to train
- Experience with MS Office programs, Word, and Excel
- Experience with Maximo project software
- Knowledge of contractual terms and ability to identify key risks within language preferred, willing to train
- Knowledge of insurance terms and requirements preferred, willing to train
- Drug Free Workplace – must submit and pass a pre-employment drug test
- Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report to operate company vehicles
- Ability to operate heavy machinery

LICENSES: Valid Driver s License, CDL preferred
