Local Democratic Campaign seeks an experienced field organizer to join their team in Fairfax County, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local Democratic partners, allied organizations, and other local leaders.
  • Recruit, mobilize, and train a diverse group of volunteers on voter (and potential voter) contact methods such as voter registration, phone banking, text banking, and canvassing.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for phone banking, voter registration, and canvassing events.
  • Attend local events to recruit volunteers, spread our message, and build community relationships.
  • Recruit, develop, and train volunteer teams and leaders.
  • Work directly with county and municipal Democratic organizations.
  • Support all levels of volunteer structure to develop organizing skills and build capacity.
  • Amplify campaign's message by creating online communities through social media
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Enthusiasm for Democratic politics
  • Campaign experience as a field organizer is preferred, but not required
  • Relationship-building and volunteer management experience
  • Working knowledge of and experience with VAN (desired, but not required)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, ability to work independently, and manage multiple tasks
  • Experience organizing and executing successful, engaging trainings
  • Deadline and results-driven leader
  • Have your own reliable transportation; provide a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Must demonstrate cultural competency with racially diverse audiences.
  • Work hours will vary from standard office hours and include weekends
  • Commitment to principles of anti-racism and equity, experience or desire to learn skills for working effectively with volunteers and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and identities
  • Must be able to hit metric goals and work well under pressure
  • Ties to Fairfax are preferred but not required

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $3,000 - $3,500 per month and will continue until November of 2023 if the candidate succeeds in the June primary. This position has the potential for promotion to Field Director.
