THE POSITION
Under general direction of the Network Communication Services Manager, coordinates and facilitates projects relating to the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of computer systems (hardware and software), peripherals, telecommunication equipment (intercom and phone), low voltage systems (bells and clocks), fire/video/security systems, and networks at various sites; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.
CURRENT OPENING: Two 12-month/40 hours per week positions. Salary placement will be on Range 42 of the SEIU Salary Schedule "S." Initial salary placement for new employees is customarily at step 1 ($38.49 per hour) of this salary range.

- Coordinates work schedules and assign work orders to appropriate staff.
- Participates in the planning, organization and implementation of the daily operations and activities related to the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware, software, networks and peripheral equipment.
- Communicates with administrators, contactors, consultants and other vendors to coordinate activities and works related to network and computer.
- Demonstrates and assists users in the operation and maintenance of office equipment and systems.
- Provides direction, supervision, and training to the staff.
- Oversees and performs on-site installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnose and repair of computers, telecommunications equipment, network equipment and software, and related peripheral equipment.
- Performs equipment tests using specialized equipment and a variety of data communications and network diagnostic computer programs to determine defects and malfunctions.
- Orders parts and supplies as required to maintain appropriate level of inventory.
- Estimates materials, labor, equipment and time requirements for daily computer support activities.
- Makes recommendations to administrators and management regarding technology purchases, repair and replacement.
- Manages network systems such as fire, video, phone and security systems and wireless.
- Conducts imaging and re-imaging of computers in accordance with District standards, policies and procedures.
- Composes technical and non-technical materials (e.g. reports, memos, procedures, etc.) to document activities and provide written reference.
- Maintains a variety of records related to computer repairs, purchases and inventory.
- Maintains confidentiality of all data on computers.
- Picks up, delivers, and moves equipment.
- Attends and participates in meetings, conferences and trainings related to computer technology.
- Drives a vehicle to various sites to conduct work.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Employees in this classification stand, sit, walk, push/pull, move, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs (and may occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. with assistance), stoop, crawl, kneel, crouch, and bend repeatedly, reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, climb and move the ladder, climb stairs, use fingers repetitively, use wrists or hands repetitively in a twisting motion or while applying pressure, use both hands simultaneously, use fingers repetitively, have rapid mental/muscular coordination, speak clearly, hear normal voice conversation, have depth perception, color vision/distinguish shades, see small details, drive a vehicle, use a computer and a telephone.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this classification work both inside and outside, in changing temperatures, with electrical hazards, fumes, dust, odors, machinery with moving parts, moving vehicles, with exposure to contagious illnesses, work in a cramped or restrictive workspace, with occasional exposure to cleaning fluids, with a high volume of work and constant interruptions, in direct contact with students, the public and other District staff, and in the absence of direct supervision.
Education:
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency.
Experience:
Four years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer systems, peripherals, and related equipment in a network environment and at least one year of experience serving in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Special:
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.
- Evidence of adequate insurance for a motor vehicle which meets or exceeds the California legal liability insurance requirement and continual insurance coverage during employment.

- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination.

COVID Vaccine Requirement
Per Board policy, employees are allowed on District campuses or facilities only if they are fully vaccinated. This resolution applies to all applicants upon hire. Applicants are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination status to the Personnel Commission Office on the date of the examination. Applicants will not be allowed to take the examination without being fully vaccinated. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after completion of two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
General Information
The screening process for this position, which may be subject to modification, will include some form of an application screening, initial screening of qualifications, documentation/certification screening, and in some instances supplemental application screening. The stated qualifications for the position represent only the minimum requirements and do not guarantee qualification for examination or placement on an eligibility list.
The examination may consist of any combination of the following: training and experience evaluation, written knowledge test, hands on/performance test, structured panel interview, situational judgement interview, or other type of exam of fitness for duty. All parts of the examination process are job related. A passing score must be attained on each portion of the exam to advance to the next stage and ultimate placement on the eligibility list, which depending on the classification, may be in force for six months or one year.

Paid Holidays
Up to 16 holidays per year depending on months worked for all classified employees.
Paid Vacation
Vacation is prorated for all classified employees, based on the hours and months worked per year. Below is the vacation schedule for classified supervisors and classified staff.
Classified Employee Vacation Chart
1-5 years of service
- One day of vacation will be earned per month worked.
6-10 years of service
- One and one-quarter (1 ¼) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
11-15 years of service
- One and one-half (1 ½) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
16-20 years of service
- One and three-fourths (1 ¾) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
21 + years of service
- Two (2) days of vacation will be earned per month worked.
Health Benefits
For positions 35 hours or more per week the District contributes $11,900 (subject to change) toward annual premium for medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Partially paid benefits are available for part-time (20-34) hour employees. The District participates in the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Lifetime retirement benefits provided for eligible retirees.

The following benefit providers are available for enrollment for eligible employees.
- Medical: Kaiser, United Health Care PPO/HMO
- Dental: Delta Dental (PPO) or DeltaCare USA (HMO)
- Vision: Vision Service Plan (VSP)
- Out of pocket costs are dependent on which provider is selected. Each provider has a different annual premium.

Paid Sick Leave
Every regular classified employee, probationary or permanent, can earn paid sick leave credit(s) based on one day for each month in which such employees are in a paid status with the District. Earned, but unused sick leave can accumulate without limit. Full-time classified employees (those who work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week and 12 months per year) will normally earn twelve (12) days of sick leave credit(s) during each fiscal year.
