Finance Director

Position Summary
The Finance Director is a new position at Puente. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Director will be a strategic thought-partner regarding all aspects of finance, accounting, and budgeting. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative director and will supervise accounting staff and vendors for a $5M organization.
Responsibilities__
**
Accounting/Audit/Tax
- Responsible for all aspects of accounting and bookkeeping functions, providing oversight to Fiscal & Facilities Specialist to ensure accurate and timely data entry
- In partnership with Executive Director and Puente’s Board Audit Committee, ensure preparation of annual audit and tax filings
- Prepare monthly financial reports and provide to leadership as appropriate
- Ensure proper accounting and reporting of grants and donations, and support financial reporting for donors as needed
Finance/Budget
- In partnership with Executive Directors and all directors of programs, develop, maintain, and monitor budgets; prepare monthly spending reports and budget variance analyses and review with leadership as appropriate
- Design and manage internal control processes and reporting systems for the ongoing improvement of Puente’s business policies and accounting practices
- Support management of contracts
- Review cash flow to ensure proper coverage of bills; advise leadership of cash status on a timely basis as appropriate
- Review bank reconciliations; serve as primary contact to all banking authorities
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee Puente’s Fiscal & Facilities Specialist position
- Responsible for relationship with accounting and payroll vendors, auditor, and other relevant vendors
- Partner with the Executive Director and other Directors to define and drive internal financial accountability, and share the overall responsibility for budget management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least five years of relevant professional experience, or CPA plus two years of experience. Must include some volunteer or work experience within a nonprofit environment.
- Personal qualities of integrity, and dedication to the mission of Puente
- Consistently high-quality analysis, judgment, and decision-making
- Familiarity with, and experience implementing, best practices for finance, budgeting, and accounting within a nonprofit environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complex information and data visually and orally in a concise, effective, and engaging way
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with accounting software; Fund EZ preferred but not required
- Experience working in a hybrid environment strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively as part of a culturally diverse team
- Availability to work some nights a week and occasionally on weekends
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred but not required

Compensation
Salary Range $90K-100K based on experience. Medical, Vision, and Dental insurance.
