O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company located in Torrington, CT, seeks a Financial Business Analyst to join our team.
The Financial Business Analyst must be a highly analytical subject matter expert and work collaboratively across the organization with key stakeholders in a variety of areas. This role will help bridge the gap between the operations, the support functions, and the technical team to manage complex data and technical systems.
This role reports to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer.
This is not a remote position.
The Financial Business Analyst is expected to:
- Understand what the business does including, most significantly, the processes through which they accomplish work. This includes an understanding of key systems like JD Edwards or other similar large ERP system
- Evaluate processes for efficiency, cost, and productivity (positive business results)
- Compile recommendations on process adjustments, new potentially impactful technologies, or other areas of improvement
- Lead research, design, and manage implementation of new technology or applications that requires technical understanding. Monitor progress against plan and assist in the development of functional specifications, testing procedures, and training plan
- Troubleshoot issues with data and processes
- Assist and educate end users in the effective use of company-wide systems
- Translate development requirements to Developers
- Identify practices or procedures that are not operating at their highest functionality and to formulate and implement relevant solutions
- Uncover inconsistencies or inefficiencies in business processes and make actionable suggestions for enhancements
- Translate data and findings from high level technical language into information that stakeholders can understand
Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
- Examine current and new business processes and the technology that supports them
- Perform gap analysis
- Develop solutions to business software system issues
- Identify and troubleshoot common issues and work with the relevant departments and IT resources to identify and correct the root cause
- Recommend solutions for improving company procedures
- Research software solutions
- Prepare documentation of new technological processes
- Prepare documentation and assist in training of new technology solutions
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Significant ERP experience
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and financial management.
- Proficiency in the use of various software applications, including Microsoft Suite with demonstrated advanced Excel skills
- Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Project management skills
