JF Restaurants is seeking a Financial Controller to join the F&B team at their newest location in Boston. MA. The Financial Controller is responsible for the oversight of financial reporting, payables, receivables, and budgets, for all outlets. The role requires the ability to analyze financial data, implement financial systems and processes, and work with the management team to meet financial goals.

Essential Job Function: The Financial controller is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounting operations of our organization. The Controller will play a key role in the long-term business planning and management of our financial systems, while also maintaining detailed record keeping in all financial, and administrative areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate cash flow, period end closing processes, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidations, and forecasting activities
• Work with FOH and BOH leaders within individual units to improve daily business operations
• Maintain accurate and timely financial reports, consistent SOPs, financial targets for budgets, and systems/processes
• Maintain detailed record keeping in all financial and administrative areas of the Company
• Oversee all AP / AR functions – review and process invoices, reconcile vendor statements, quarterly vendor audits, manage vendor relationships and database, guest billing and follow-up
• Uphold existing / create new SOPs to ensure consistency at all JFR locations.
• Stay up to date with changes in systems, processes, policies and procedures as they relate to new accounting standards, regulatory changes, changes in business strategy, operations changes and business initiatives
• Monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
• File sales, prompt and quarterly taxes
• Manages bank operations for payroll transfers, ACH, wires, etc.
• Lead month-end reconciliation for balance sheet accounts and income statement
• Weekly reconciliation of petty cash and bar banks for each outlet
• Compile daily and weekly sales reports for operations teams.
• Consistent review and auditing of all financial statements to ensure correct GL coding. Includes auditing of excel backups for intercompany allocations (i.e. MH payroll, health insurance, etc.)
• Assist the HR department with Health, Vision and Dental Insurance enrollment
• Monthly reconciliation of all benefit premiums and corresponding employee deductions
• Attend all manager meetings

Administrative Management

• Organize and maintain system for record keeping related to government agencies, insurance, benefits, AP records, bank reconciliation backups and credit card receipts
• Process and distribute mail in a timely manner
• Request and process W-9 forms from new vendors

Requirements:

• At least three (3) years of experience as a financial controller or in a similar role
• Purchasing and financial experience, preferably in food and beverage, with a proven record of delivering results
• Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, and related applications- this role requires above average technological literacy
• Exceptional aptitude for problem solving- ease in dissecting ambiguous situations and providing thoughtful recommendations on next steps
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Strategic thinker with strong business acumen
• Remarkable communication and interpersonal skills, strong quantitative and analytical dexterity, and ability to multitask
• M3 accounting software preferred
• Experience in the Food & Beverage Industry preferred
