Under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, The UCLA Foundation, the Financial Reporting Accountant is primarily responsible for financial reporting, reconciliation, tax filings, and analysis for The UCLA Foundation including monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports. You will prepare the annual audited financial statements, related footnote disclosures, audit supporting schedules, tax schedules, monthly and quarterly financial statements, management reports, and assists in the preparation of financial packages for various committee meetings. In addition, you will responsible for maintaining the general ledger system, performing GAAP and GASB research, reviewing and preparing journal entries, and preparing account reconciliations as required. This is an exceptional opportunity to expand your accounting experience in a collaborative environment supporting the goals and objectives of Advancement Services and our External Affairs division.

**Please note, this position is only required to be on-site for department/division wide meetings.**

Required/Preferred

1. CPA is required as well as eight to ten years of progressive accounting experience.

2. Advanced knowledge and understanding of GAAP and GASB and their practical applications.

3. Advanced knowledge of auditing standards and applications.

Required

4. Ability to work independently to record detailed accounting transactions and reconciliations that require in-depth advanced knowledge of accounting concepts.

5. Demonstrated ability to independently analyze and reconcile large financial data reports with advanced analytical skills to evaluate information, identify and resolve problems.

6. Skilled in organizing and maintaining accurate, up to date accounting records for audit and follow up action.

7. Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy and a strong ability to organize, prioritize and manage workload to meet multiple deadlines working on several projects concurrently, under minimal supervision in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

8. Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint and various web applications. Proficiency using accounting software; experience using Microsoft Dynamics preferred. Ability to learn transaction research and pull reports from the UCLA gift system.

9. Strong written communication skills with the ability to write logical, concise and grammatically correct business and technical correspondence and reports.

10. Interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with senior management, campus administrators and volunteers. Ability to establish and maintain positive, and cooperative working relationships with co-workers, and other campus staff.

11. Strong verbal communication skills with ability to speak clearly and distinctly both in person and on the telephone to answer accounting related questions, explain procedures, and make effective oral presentations to groups.
