Job Summary:
Work Schedule: 7am-3pm Monday through Friday. Occasional outside hours for coordinating testing to limit facility interruptions.

The Fire Systems Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling and oversite of the testing and inspections, and verification of proper operation and maintenance of the fire protection systems and equipment for the Health System.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
1. Evaluates discovered or reported deficiencies for impact to the facility by initiating proper responses and actions to mitigate risk to building occupants.
2. Coordinates testing, inspections, and verification of the fire alarm and fire suppression systems according to Federal, State, and City adopted fire codes to ensure operational status and performance verification of equipment.
3. Maintains proper operation of fire alarm and fire suppression system components, including smoke detectors, pull stations, door releases, control valves, drains, inspector test valves, electronic alarm system interface devices, tamper switches, and flow switches, by following established policies and procedures to ensure operational status and performance verification of equipment.
4. Reviews blueprints and schematics of fire alarm and fire suppression system components to ensure the accuracy of the identity and location of all components, reporting discrepancies when found.
5. Records and maintains electronic documentation of testing and inspection records and records all alterations, additions, and deletions of fire suppression and fire alarm systems to ensure regulatory agency requirements are met, including State and City required forms.
6. Works with contracted personnel for maintenance of fire alarm and fire suppression equipment and systems to ensure equipment is maintained in an operational condition.
7. Coordinates service requests, purchase orders and processes invoices for all fire alarm and fire suppression system work and works with vendors and purchasing to maintain parts and supplies are available for ongoing reliability of systems.

Job Requirements
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.
  • Associates Degree preferred, preferably in an Electronics discipline.

Experience
  • 2 – 3 years previous experience in fire alarm or fire suppressions systems required.

License/Certifications
  • State of Nebraska Fire Alarm Inspector license required.
  • State of Iowa Fire Alarm Inspector license preferred.
  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level II Certification preferred.
  • Valid and current driver's license required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Knowledge of national and local fire codes, including National Fire Protection Association, City of Omaha, State of Nebraska, City of Council Bluffs, and Iowa State Fire Prevention, required.
  • Skilled in planning, delegation, time-management, and problem-solving required.
  • Basic computer skills required. Bluebeam Revu experience helpful.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required.
  • Able to read electronic schematics, blueprints, and other manufacturer and hospital documentation required.
  • Able to climb ladders required.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend various written reports and documents required.
  • Able to travel to various locations required.
