Job description

This position is the first line of defense in protecting other workers and property from harm during hot work. Hot work includes any activity involving riveting, welding, burning, grinding or use of powder-actuated tools or similar fire or spark producing operations.

Essential Functions:

Identifies and removes potential fire hazards in hot work area.
Assists with moving materials, welding equipment and cleans up when necessary.
Remains alert for extended periods of time.
In the event of fire, follows proper fire extinguishing procedure to extinguish and prevent spreading of fire.
Stops operations if any other hazardous conditions arise.
Communicates effectively with co-workers and management alike.
Other duties as may be assigned.

• Naval Shipyard Experience Preferred
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and medical exam.
• Must be able to pass a 7-year and/or life-long criminal background check.
• Position is subject to overtime.
• Must be able to work Full-time.
• Must be able to work all shifts.
• *OSHA 10

* NSC will provide OSHA 10 Maritime training to all eligible employees.
