Job description
Southwest Virginia Community College ( SWCC ) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
- Creates course curriculum, assignments, and assessments; refines and modifies as industry dictates.
- Expected to be reliable, responsible, professional, and efficient.
- Promotes and supports student success.
- Teaches First Aid/CPR/AED courses as assigned, utilizing a curriculum that prepares and enables students to receive an AHA or comparable certification.
- Serve as an academic advisor to a diverse population of students.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- The successful candidate will possess a minimum of five years of experience related to First Aid/CPR/AED techniques.
- Must possess or be able to obtain an American Heart Association (AHA) certification and be qualified to instruct this material to others effectively.
- The successful candidate also must possess an expert level of skills and abilities related to this curriculum.
- Must be very detailed oriented and have the ability to meet set deadlines.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred
- Computer system knowledge, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation, which may include: fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, verification of education, credit checks (relevant to employment).
