Online Transportation is seeking a mid-level organized, experienced, and highly motivated Fleet Safety Coordinator who is responsible for the overall strategy, management and execution of safety related programs and behavior in a specific region. This role will ensure compliance with all regulated standards including DOT and FMCSA. The Fleet Safety Coordinator will work cross-functionally to create a culture of safety throughout the company. They will ensure best in class safety programs, processes, training, and procedures are in place using data and creativity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement and oversee the work of staff members to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Leverage data to identify at-risk behavior trends, target actions and communications specific to mitigating identified risks. (Samsara)
- Knowledge of HOS as well as assist with monitoring drivers' logs to ensure compliance with FMCSA rules/regulations.
- Responsible for all aspect of driver safety training, accident prevention, safety campaigns and driver and manager accountability.
- Provide overall leadership and direction for driving a safety culture and environment and ensure its prioritization in all aspects of the business.
- Processing drug and alcohol tests, random selection and reasonable suspicion tests.
- Acting as backup for new driver orientation.
- Must be proficient in ELD functionality to monitor drivers.
- Coordinate monthly driver logs audits.
- Less than 25% travel but ability to visit Terminals to conduct safety meetings.
Job Skills & Qualifications Required:
- Previous experience working in the Transportation/Logistics Industry with either dispatching (driver facing) or fleet management experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in Transportations/Logistics leading a Team of associates in a customer facing role.
- Minimum 3-5 years DOT Safety experience
- Thorough understanding of FMCSA Regulations for bulk trucking operations
- Preferred to be an experienced user of TMW and ELD/E-log equipment and & software to monitor CDL-A drivers.
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills are KEY
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
